Character Arc Check-ins

    • Summer show rehearsals continue to be delightful. We met for the first time in about a month last Tuesday, and the cast is doing really well with memorization and their acting as a whole. We discussed the FYSOP performance, and as of right now, three out of four actors are confirmed to be there on August 26th, and our last actor will be either confirming or denying in the next few days. We’ll go about finding an understudy if they’re unable to be there. I also spoke with the cast regarding cancelling our August 20th virtual performance in favor of allowing actors to pack and enjoy their last week of summer; the cast seemed relatively neutral about either option, and I believe Emma was leaning towards cancelling. Finally, I talked with Emma about having an in-person Revival show on September 4th, considering we will have the in-person FYSOP show as a precedent. Please let me know if y’all think this is possible, and how I can help make it a reality. (email)

    • We had our first two rehearsals since the hiatus and they both went very well. We’re still waiting on one cast member’s availability for FYSOP. Things are just generally going well and I’m looking forward to hopefully having that FYSOP performance assuming everything is cleared. (email)

    • I reached out to Ella and confirmed she’ll be there for the show on the 6th to do sound. Just a heads up in advance, I’ll be out of town from the morning of the 6th to the 9th with pretty limited wifi so if something comes up I won’t be able to fill in, but I doubt something will and I know directors have helped in the past. Unfortunately Ella won’t be in Boston for the in person performance on the 26th, but I can absolutely do sound and lights or find someone if needed. Everyone else on the tech team is in FYSOP so I don’t think it should be too much of an issue, but I’ll reach out to see if there’ll be any conflicts. I’m also going to see if I can meet with directors this week or next about ironing out the in-person tech details. I’ll reach out to the creative team with a when2meet link later tonight or tomorrow to arrange that! (email)

  • Advice for future virtual directors:

    • Communicate, be open and flexible

    • There’s a lot you can’t grasp since you can’t see people’s body language

      • Have to encourage people to speak up and not sit there quietly

    • People don’t always want to do warmups on Zoom, listen to your cast

    • Keep rehearsals short, long rehearsals were REALLY exhausting

      • Limit was 3 hours, any times going over that were rough

Sage - Director

  • So ED went really well this weekend!! We definitely learned a lot that may be helpful for future productions and I’m always happy to offer advice to others from my experience. The live show brought in the most viewers, so I am so glad we decided to do it. We raised about $1400, as I’m sure Sunny will tell you, and I’m super proud of that as well as of everyone in the process. 

    • We will meet with Sage to ask specific questions about pre-recorded/live process

Nhi - TD
