Pitching? Fall semester?

  • Decisions: Pitch GM date, what people are pitching for, parameters for those pitches

    • No musicals, asking for flexible contingency plans for virtual possibilities

  • Two regular mainstages or F&F and mainstage

  • Additions to Pitch Form

    • No musicals

    • Team must be prepared to pivot their vision if things go virtual - flexible plans

    • Add a question to the form about how they will ensure their tech vision can function in person or virtually - and how tech will be fully involved

    • No non-BU involvement 

  • F&F Outdoor Festival - everyone is on board!

    • Now we have to secure the space and iron out timing/logistics

    • We will hopefully have clearer answers on that after meeting Dean B this week

      • How long can we have the space? How long will these time slots be?

      • Can we get the space for 2 weeks instead of just 1?

    • Each group would prepare something corresponding to their group

      • Time slots over the weekend, each group would present

      • Each group will have their own pitch process, would be autonomous in their own section of the festival

      • Collaboration would be putting it together as a festival

ED Check Outs

Sage - Director

  • Live performance - only did it because Miranda spoke up thinking it would be good

    • Was unsure if people would want to watch a clumsy live run, but EBoard and general members were enthusiastic!!

    • All 3 nights would have been impossible scheduling-wise, so did Thursday

  • Lots of people came to the live show, certain unexpected energy at that show

    • Was the BEST performance for every actor, really felt that energy

  • Advice for future virtual directors:

    • Communicate, be open and flexible

    • There’s a lot you can’t grasp since you can’t see people’s body language

      • Have to encourage people to speak up and not sit there quietly

    • People don’t always want to do warmups on Zoom, listen to your cast

    • Keep rehearsals short, long rehearsals were REALLY exhausting

      • Limit was 3 hours, any times going over that were rough

    • Try to do fun things to encourage productivity! 

      • End early, go through scenes with fun activities

  • ED on the Stage Troupe YouTube account

    • Have sent out the link to some people already

    • Would rather it be seen more

  • So ED went really well this weekend!! We definitely learned a lot that may be helpful for future productions and I’m always happy to offer advice to others from my experience. The live show brought in the most viewers, so I am so glad we decided to do it. We raised about $1400, as I’m sure Sunny will tell you, and I’m super proud of that as well as of everyone in the process. 

    • We will meet with Sage to ask specific questions about pre-recorded/live process

Inspiration Project Check-Ins

Team One

  • Chris

    • Overall I thought the writing process went very smoothly despite the general craziness of things right now. Although I did take a big to finish the script because of my schedule this semester. It was a really great chance to do something creative and collaborative. I thought the inspiration project was a really good idea so props to eboard for making it happen! I also had the pleasure of working with a great creative team who did an amazing job and were very supportive. The cast and tech crew also did a fantastic job as well. In general it was a great, low stress, high reward process. So thanks!

    • Tech run was kinda hard to coordinate between the two teams

    • Sent out a thank you email to everyone, will be going around to collect costumes and props in the next few days to get them back to the Space

    • SUCH a fun process

    • Great script, cast was so dedicated and hardworking

    • Some procedural stuff was definitely tough

    • Definitely needed a bit more time

    • Restored a lot of my faith in zoom theater :,)

    • So happy to see the script come alive!!!

    • Process was super fun, wished they could’ve had more time to iron things out

    • Overall loved it!

    • If we get a chance to do something like this in the future they’d love to do it again!

      • Hard for some of the one person departments to handle everything

        • It was really nice to have a partner to bounce ideas off of

Inspiration Project Check-Outs

  • SO enjoyable and impressive how it turned out, nice to feel like we’re doing live theater again, proud of us for coming up with this and committing to it and pulling off such a unique cool thing :,) 

  • Might need a more specific division of power talk so everyone knows exactly what’s required of them - more info about SMs/TDs 

  • Might be better to assign people to creative team roles earlier in the semester, moving the casting process up to happen earlier

Inspo Project Check Ins

Team 1

Ian

  • We had a great week of rehearsals last week! I was able to meet with most of the actors for one on one rehearsals, and we also had a great readthrough on Thursday. The play is coming together wonderfully, and it’s great to see how the actors are all coming into their characters! I also met with tech at the meeting Thursday night, and we talked about our collective vision for the show. Natalie and I are currently in the process of scheduling a tech rehearsal this week, but beyond that we have our dress rehearsal Thursday night and then it’s the show! It’s definitely been a time crunch, but I’m confident in our ability to pull off a great performance, and I’m so excited to see everything come together!

Natalie

  • Had her tech meeting!! Went super well, showed tech copy of the script & notes, timeline

  • Individual department meetings for tomorrow

  • Hoping to go to the Space on Tuesday to get props costumes etc

Team 2

Kendall

  • So many rehearsals!!!!! So fun!!! 

Already Home Check Ins

  • By December 6th, we will have all scenes done, and 75% of the music learned

  • Week after Thanksgiving - run throughs, simulating a real show!

  • Neil and Isa will run joint rehearsals

    • Doing very well! Had first read through last Thursday, was great!

  • Curveball: Mandy Resendes dropped out of the show; but someone who came on board kind of late was able to be flexible and step in!!
