Hiya membership! We've got some updates and info for you before the Thanksgiving break rolls around!
The next GM will be Sunday, December 9th at 7PM in the Student Theater.
***SPRING SEASON***
We have some unfortunate news. The rights to Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf are currently unavailable and it is unknown when Dramatists will make a call on whether we can acquire them. If by December 9th the rights become available, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf will be a part of our spring 2013 season. If the rights are not available, then those who’ve submitted pitches by the new due date will be pitching at the December 9th General Meeting and the membership will vote again.
PITCHES (new and re-submissions) ARE DUE BY WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 5TH at 3PM.
This means that if you are re-submitting a pitch, we need you to send in your pitch form again (the scripts are not necessary). DON'T MISS MR. MARMALADE THIS WEEKEND

Greetings membership. It's already time for our third main stage of the season! Stage Troupe is proud to present... MR. MARMALADE

Written by Noah Haidle

Directed by Sam Hoffman Assistant Directed by Ryan Chernin Technically Directed by Marissa Cheifetz Produced by Kelsey Gold

Deep in the deranged mind of a four year-old girl named Lucy, Mr. Marmalade sits down for some Darjeeling Oolong tea wearing a sleek, black suit and carrying a leather brief case. This imaginary creation, developed from the neglect of a single, working mother and a self-absorbed babysitter, turns out to be an abusive, drug-addicted businessman. Lucy’s only real friend is a suicidal five year-old named Larry, who finds hope in their strange and dysfunctional friendship. Mr. Marmalade is a dark, yet hilarious, comedy about the effects of neglect on a child’s imagination, as well as what it truly means to be a friend.

2nd General Meeting RECAP - PITCHES, AUDITIONS, WORKSHOPS, RUN FOR EBOARD, KICKBALL

Did the earlier rain and chill confuse you? Were you disoriented by the sudden rays of sunshine beating into your unprotected irises? Does the smell of Autumn send calming vibes into your soul slash skeleton, leaving you immobile in your desk chair as you stare blankly into nothingness? Was that much too long a question? Either way, if you missed the meeting, here's a recap of all the INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT things coming up. Pay attention, my dear membership, and keep these dates in your minds (/encyclopedia of dates/calendars).

First off, congrats to COMBAT and everyone who participated! It was super successful and such a fun, crazy, time.

****PITCHES****

Have you always wanted to direct? Never done it before? Done it a million times? Want experience? Have a show you want to see Troupe do? We have so many opportunities available if you want to direct/pitch a show! There's a lot of information here, Troupies, so CONSTANT VIGILANCE.

If you want to pitch a show for next semester (or for ONE ACTS!), here's what you need to know!

- Be a dues paying member ($5) - Have a show you know and want to pitch - Make sure the rights are available - Get the script, make 2 copies - Download and fill out the pitch form from the website (http://bustagetroupe.com/members/forms-and-resources/) - Put all of that (the scripts and the form) into a manila envelope and bring it to 111 Cummington Mall labeled with "Stage Troupe" and this address:

ATTN: Eric Jacobsen 111 Cummington Mall Rm B17

**PITCHES ARE DUE BY 3PM ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30TH**

*If you are pitching a musical, you must contact Eric (jacobsen@bu.edu) in a timely manner so that he can check for the rights to the show. If you are pitching a play, you will need to check for the rights on your own (try findaplay.com or dramatists or various other play sites)

If you have any questions about the pitching process, please contact stage@bu.edu and we'll help you out. The Pitching Meeting is the next GM, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH at 7PM. The pitches will be pitched and the membership shall vote and find out the next season that same day! Yay, democracy!

If you would like to be on READING COMMITTEE for the pitches (you CANNOT do this if you are pitching), then please email Lauren at kolodkin@bu.edu.

Pitches for ONE ACTS work the same as mainstage pitches and are due the same day, so don't forget! One Acts are the perfect way to try directing for the first time or to even see your own work on stage. We welcome all kinds of pitches!

ONE ACTS AUDITIONS are November 5th & 6th ONE ACTS will be December 7th & 8th

Pitches for CHARITY SHOW work just a little bit differently. You still have to submit the scripts and the Charity Show form (found on the same page!), but the membership will not be voting on this pitch, the VPSP and Eboard will select the Charity Show for next semester. You will need to select a charity to pair with your show, and you get a chance to explain why you want to the show and why it fits with your chosen charity.

****AUDITIONS****

Julie, the director for Picasso at the Lapin Agile will be holding another round of auditions for the role of Elvis! If you are not already cast in the season or if you missed out the first time, then come and audition for the role! Unfortunately, our VP is unable to complete her term with us, which means her position needs to be filled! We will be holding nominations AND elections for the new Vice President of Stage Troupe at our NEXT GM (November 4th). This allows the new elect time to learn the position with our current board while Kelsey is still here to teach, and whoever our new VP is will be ready to go for next semester.

If you want to run for the position, you MUST attend the GM. Someone will need to nominate you, you will give a short speech to the membership, and the position will be voted at the same meeting.

Any questions about the position or running for Eboard, direct them to stage@bu.edu!

****KICKBALL****

Finally, we have KICKBALL vs. OnBroadway coming up on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 7TH at 11AM

Meet in the Space at 10:30AM to prep with TEAM STAGE TROUPE, then we'll go to the Boston Common and play our fellow theatre lovers in a match of SKILL and JOY.

Summer Show REVIVAL!

Did you miss something? Could it perhaps be that you missed the promise of a trip into the depths of an existential hell? To a dim, black and white room set all in angles? That's too bad, but fortunately the devil is kind and...

YOU HAVE ONE MORE CHANCE.

That's right, we are reviving our summer show, No Exit! If you missed out because you were climbing mountains in Bolivia or spelunking in Switzerland, you're super-crazy-whoa lucky because you still get to see it!

No Exit Written by Jean-Paul Sartre Directed by Chris Hamilton Technically Directed by Marissa Cheifetz

Two women and one man are locked up together for eternity in one hideous room in hell. The windows are bricked up; there are no mirrors; the electric lights can never be turned off; and there is no exit. The irony of this hell is that its torture is not of the rack and fire, but of the burning humiliation of each soul as it is stripped of its pretenses by the cruel curiosity of the damned. Here the soul is shorn of secrecy, and even the blackest deeds are mercilessly exposed to the fierce light of hell. It is an eternal torment.

The revival performance will be on Friday, September 7th at 8PM in the Student Theater, and best of all—it's free! Come watch the show and all the hard work the summer cast and crew have put into it. See your friends and catch up with your fellow Troupies all while supporting a ~fantastic production! You DO NOT want to miss out.

Seeking Fall 2012 Production Heads!

Good. Afternoon. Something tells me I’ve interrupted something. Go on, take a second and put that down, won’t you? That's it...there we go. Now, read on you lovely membership...

First - you have THREE more chances to see the summer show, No Exit! You really don’t want to miss this fabulous production, so book those planes and trains, wrap a bandage ‘round your feet, and clamor over the mountains to get back to Boston and see the show! ~Hoopla

Next, we’re already looking ahead to our Fall 2012 Season! It’s going to be absolutely AMAZING. Here’s a reminder of the shows/showdates:

October 19-21, 2012 Little Shop of Horrors Music by Alan Menken; Lyrics by Howard Ashman Directed by Allie Romano Assistant Director and Choreographer: Jake Delaney Musical Director: Jonathan Reed

November 1-3, 2012 Stop Kiss Written by Diana Son Directed by Celia Gibson

November 29-30; December 1, 2012 Picasso at the Lapin Agile Written by Steve Martin Directed by Julie Kaminski

Now, to jumpstart the season, we’re starting the search for the rest of our production heads. Read on if you have any interest in Technical Directing or Producing the fall season, and don’t forget these positions also call for assistants!

Our Technical Advisor Andrew Smith is looking for any of you tech wizards ready to head a crew of your very own. Whether you’ve TD/ATD-ed before or you’re looking to try it out, email Andrew at smithand@bu.edu and let him know you’re interested! If you’re interested in TDing Little Shop of Horrors, fill out a TD app (found here) and send it to Andrew!

Our Treasurer Allie Romano is looking for you money savvy folks ready to dole out the cash and promote the shows. If you’ve been brushing up your photoshop skills and polishing off your brand new TI89 (there are probably newer models out, but I’m a COM kid and forgot what calculators do), then email Allie at alliero@bu.edu to let her know you’re interested!

More information about these positions can be found around the website. We are especially looking to fill our Parents’ Weekend show, but interest in the rest of the season would be fantastic!

That’s all for now. Mark your calendars for our first general meeting of the year on Sunday, September 9th. You’ll be hearing from me again later this summer!

Have a wonderful sun-season. You may now return to your regularly scheduled heatstroke and/or torrential downpour.

We're in hell, my pets; they never make mistakes

Yes, now's the moment. The moment we descend together into hell--there is no looking back. The earth has left you. No Exit Written by Jean-Paul Sartre Directed by Chris Hamilton Technically Directed by Marissa Cheifetz

Performances will be held in the Student Theater located at 925 Commonwealth Avenue in the passage between Agganis Arena and FitRec on the Wednesday of each Orientation session: June 13th; June 20th; June 27; July 11th; and July 18th. The show begins at 7PM.

Best of all, ****the performance is free!**** So you really have no excuse at all not to come see the show. It has a set all in angles, vivid green and claret-colored lights, a bell that's just a bit capricious, and three people facing an eternity in hell--what more could you ask?

The Next Technical Advisor

The new 2012-2013 Stage Troupe Executive Board has been elected, and now it is time to decide upon the last person to fill the final spot. That vital position is the Stage Troupe Technical Advisor.

Are you a dedicated technician who wants to better serve the Stage Troupe community? Do you think you are qualified to assign tech positions, as well as attending to all major technical aspects of each of our productions? Then apply to be the next Technical Advisor!!

The application is quite simple, if you are interested email the incoming Vice President, Kelsey Gold at kels2131@gmail.com to retrieve the updated application. All applications are due NO LATER than Friday, April 20th at 5:00pm, again sent to Kelsey Gold.

The next Technical Advisor will be announced at our final General Meeting on Sunday, April 22nd. Being on E-Board is such a rewarding experience, so don't think twice about applying. You could have so much to offer the Troupies of Tomorrow!!

Acting/Directing Opportunities!

***MALE ACTOR NEEDED***

The Directors of the One Act 'Early Morning' are seeking one male to fill the role of Detective Diamantini in their show. The cast is only two people, it is a low time
commitment, and would be a great opportunity to explore a new acting role. If this
interests you, please come to THE SPACE on Tuesday, November 15th from 5pm-6pm to
audition! It will be a cold reading, so just print out an audition form and bring your best!

One Acts take place December 2nd-3rd so make sure you are FREE that weekend before you audition!

***ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED***

Interested in Directing, but a little nervous about the process/how to go about it? The Directors of 'Speech and Debate' and 'In the Next Room or The Vibrator Play' are looking for Assistant Directors! Each is searching for someone passionate about the piece (that has read it) with a strong vision who can help them throughout the process. If this excites you email:

Jimmy Blackmon (Speech and Debate) at jmkblackmon@gmail.com
Melissa D'Anna (In the Next Room) at mmdanna@bu.edu

Ask them any questions you may have/for copies of the scripts!!!
Melissa is also seeking a Dramaturg, so email her if this piques your interest as well.
