Laser Tag information

Laser Tag is THURSDAY, April 17th. Unfortunately, it is not possible to rent two fields to accomodate 60 people on that date, and changing it seemed to interfere with too many
schedules.

So, for the first ever Laser Tag Spectacular (a Special Project Production) there are only 38 spots. Right now, there are 12 unpaid spots left.

Renting a room at the place proved too expensive so we will be having a pizza party in a TBD room on campus starting at 6:30pm that Thursday. Then at 7:20 pm, we will leave for Danvers, MA to play our first game at 8 p.m. The reservation lasts 'til 10pm and then we'll come home.

If you're interested in still attending, get us your $20 as soon as possible. Kathleen will be in the GSU from 10am to 2pm this Friday to accept payments for Laser Tag. If you can't make it then, work out an arrangement with David (dsiewers@bu.edu) ASAP before the slots fill.

General Meeting Recap

Submissions for this semester's One Acts, the Summer Show, and next year's Parents Weekend show are due by Mar 6th to the IT office. Please include the appropriate submission form (found on the website) and two copies of the script, all in an envelope labeled Attn. Eric Jacobsen. Pitches for Fall mainstages are due Mar 21, same procedure. More information can be found on our website here: http://people.bu.edu/stage/members/proposals/index.html

Auditions for One Acts will be Mar 24-25. More information on these to come soon.

There is a Combat Theatre this Saturday night at 8pm in the Student Theater. If you're interested in acting, writing, or directing, please e-mail VPSP David (dsiewers@bu.edu) ASAP. We still need some more people so don't hesitate to be a part of this event of unmatchable fun. Otherwise, be sure to show up and watch!

Another thing the membership said they wanted to see this semester was readings of plays. So we've set up a Readers Theatre to happen on March 5th, the day before pitches are due. If you've got a show you'd like to hear read, possibly a potential mainstage for next season, e-mail David (dsiewers@bu.edu) about it and we'll see if we can get it in. If you want to be one of our readers/actors, also e-mail David.

This semester's Drama After College will focus on playwriting and will be held on Mar 27th. It will be taught by a local professional playwright.

Tech workshops are starting this week. You should have gotten an e-mail from Rena about them, but if not, e-mail her (renarena@bu.edu) for a list of topics and dates.

Sexual Perversity in Chicago is looking for an artist to draw them some sketches. One of the characters in the play is an artist and the directors want a bunch of sketches to both use as props and decorate with. E-mail Bryan Lowry (blowry86@bu.edu) or Andy Hoglund (hoglundan@gmail.com) if you're interested.

Another props person is needed for Anything Goes. If you're interested, e-mail Rena (renarena@bu.edu). Also e-mail her if you're interested in teching for any upcoming Special Projects.

Anything Goes is still looking for some more people to help serve dinner at the two dinner performances. It's a great way to see the show for free and be a part of this fantastic event. E-mail Emily Shumsky (eashumsky@gmail.com) or Vanessa Tanicien (vanessa.tanicien@gmail.com) if interested in helping out.

Tickets for the performances are now able to be reserved online through stage@bu.edu or by calling Kathleen at 518.810.5176. There will be 20 tickets available to Stage Troupe members for each dinner performance at a special price of $20, instead of $30. Those twenty will go first come first serve so act quickly.

Some compiled updates

The Tech Assignments are now posted. It's not too late to get a position, so if you're still interested, send us an e-mail.

Vanessa Tanicien and Emily Shumsky, the heads of our catering crew for Dinner Theatre, are looking for wait staff to help with the serving of dinner. Servers will have to arrive at 5pm on Feb 29 and Mar 1. It's a great way to get involved with this spectacular event and see the show for free. E-mail Emily (eashumsky@gmail.com) or Vanessa (vanessa.tanicien@gmail.com) to offer your services.

Andrea Sujkowski, is in the process of putting together video clips for the alumni reception at our Dinner Theatre spectacular. If you have a DVD copy of any Stage Troupe Production, past or present, and would be willing to let her borrow it to copy, please email her at andrea.sujkowski@gmail.com. In the email please list which DVD(s) you have, and she will let you know whether or not she already has a copy. Also for the alumni reception, Andrea would like to put together photo collages of Stage Troupe Activites. Do you have photo's from backstage, onstage, One Acts, Combat, BUSTies, or other Stage Troupe Activites and Shows? If so, and you would be willing to share them, please send the pictures to andrea.sujkowski@gmail.com. Please refrain from sending pictures where the photo participants are obviously intoxicated.

Some more audition announcements:

A graduate director at the School of Theatre is looking for some people to fill some small roles in the play, "Two Sisters and a Piano" by Nilo Cruz. The parts are small, without any lines, and the show runs the weekend of Feb 14-16. E-mail Rey Lopez at rey@reylopez.com if interested.

Willing Suspension Productions is looking for a Mother. More specifically, we're looking for a female actor willing to adopt a small-medium size role in a production already under rehearsal. The play is A Mad World, My Masters by Thomas Middleton, a city comedy from 1608. The role is a lot of fun - dirty jokes abound - and the cast is great. The show dates are March 5-7, and rehearsals are 1-3 times per week (every Sunday with some possible additional weekday rehearsals). Interested parties should email wsuspen@bu.edu to set up an audition appointment ASAP. Willing Suspension is a theater group here on campus run by the graduate English department. They put on productions of Shakespeare's contemporaries. The cast and crew is made of graduate and undergraduate students. Come join your fellow Stage Troupies Jarman Day-Bohn, Don Meeg, Paul Hansen, Owen Schmitt, and Lucas Griswold in this incredibly fun theater group!

Auditions for the Jewish Theatre Guild's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat are this week. Vocal audition are Monday and Tuesday Feb 4th and 5th from 7-10pm in CAS 114B. Dance Auditions are Wednesday Feb 3rd from 5:30-7:30. Callbacks are that Thursday. Contact director Yosi Merves for more information at ymerves@bu.edu.
The Jewish Theatre Guild is a newer performing arts group whose performance and rehearsals are sensitive to the Jewish Sabbath and Holidays (ie, not on Friday nights, not during
Passover), although you absolutely DO NOT need to be Jewish to be involved.

1st General Meeting recap

Sunday night was our first general meeting of the semester. Here's what happened:

Auditions are only two nights this year, tonight and tomorrow, from 6-9:30pm in the basement of the Psychology building. No experience, resume, or headshot is required. Just have $5 to pay your membership dues and you're all set. If auditioning for Company, have 30-45 seconds of music prepared to sing without an accompanist. Please show up as early as possible to help us see everyone in one fewer night this time around.

Synopses and production heads are listed on our website. Further information on the audition process is there as well.

If you're interested in Tech, the Tech meeting will be on Friday at 6pm in The Space. Anyone who want to tech will get a position. No experience is required here either and dues will be collected there as well. More information about positions and the tech assignment process is available on the website.

We've got a plenitude of Special Projects planned for the semester as well. On February 2nd, we will be holding Rena's Birthday Bash, a variety show of sorts to raise money for the Kids Show, where all proceeds go to charity. The event will include a host, some sketches and other forms of entertainment, a cake off, a date auction, and a chance to pie a member of the e-board. We're looking for people interested in baking cakes to be judged and people who want to enteratin. E-mail us back here if either of those interest you.

Other projects include The Tech Show (which is still a secret), Combat, Drama After College: Playwriting, Readers Theatre, and One Acts. More information on all of these to come as the events draw closer.

BUSTies will be held on the 9th floor of Photonics on May 1st. It's our annual award ceremony where we celebrate the accomplishments of the past year. If you're interested in being on the planning committee for the event, e-mail VPSP David Siewers (dsiewers@bu.edu).

VP Chris Carcione has started sifting through the boxes of archives Stage Troupe has in an effort to make sense of the 58 years of history we have. If you're interested in helping with the archiving process, e-mail Chris (ccarcion@bu.edu).

We're also starting a development campaign to try and raise money for Troupe. We hope to compile a list of alumni to give to the University (another part of the archiving project) so that alums can give directly to the organization. But for this year we're also going to send letters to our families and friends. At auditions and the tech meeting, there you'll have a chance to put down your home address. If you don't want us to contact your family, leave it blank. If you have more people you'd like letters sent to, e-mail them to stage@bu.edu.

New Repertory Theatre in Watertown is looking for a Marketing/Public Realtions intern. Troupies have been really great in the position in the past and it's a great way to get experience in the professional theatre world. Contact VP Chris Carcione (ccarcion@bu.edu) if interested and he'll point you in the right direction.

The pitch deadline for the Parents Weekend show and Summer show will be March 6th. All materials are due to the IT office by 4pm in an envelope labeled "Attn. Eric Jacobsen." More information on pitching is available on the website.

Recent Troupe alum Tyler Reilly is acting in a production of Angels in America being produced by Boston Theatre Works at the Boston Center for the Arts. The show has two parts and runs through Feb 10. Information on performances is available online at bostontheatrescene.com

Look for callback, cast, and tech lists online during the week as we start this fantastic semester of Troupetasticness.
