THIRD GENERAL MEETING!

***OUR THIRD GENERAL MEETING OF THE SEMESTER IS THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH AT 7PM IN THE STUDENT THEATER!!!***

This meeting is incredibly important as we will be VOTING ON THE SHOWS FOR OUR SPRING 2012 SEASON as well as ANNOUNCING OUR FALL ONE ACTS!!

Auditions for One Acts are set to take place Monday, November 7th- Wednesday November 9th, and the details of how they work/where they are/what they entail will be discussed in greater detail at the meeting.

If you wish to tech One Acts please email our TA Dani Freiberg at dsfreiberg@gmail.com. If you would like to produce, email our Treasurer Allie at alliero@bu.edu. One Acts is a great way to get involved in something small at the end of the semester with all of your friends, so don't be shy!

***ASSASSINS***

This is a really fun game of cat and mouse involving all Troupies. You are given a target and you must eliminate that target by 'killing' them (with a clothespin). It's insane, fun, and crazy, so SIGN UP!!! The only way you can sign up is by attending our next GM. I repeat....IF YOU DO NOT COME TO THE GM YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY ASSASSINS (unless you bribe Marcus with a latte). You will regret it, I assure you.

The message of this email is simple...ATTEND OUR NEXT GENERAL MEETING THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH AT 7PM IN THE STUDENT THEATER!!!! It is the most important meeting of the semester where our democratic system is working at it's finest, but we NEED ALL OUR TROUPIES THERE! YOU get to decide what goes up next semester, YOU get to hear about other fabulous acting/teching/producing opportunities, and YOU get to run for your life in Assassins. I really don't see what could be a better way to procrastinate from your work.

General Meeting Minutes

Hey guys,
So a lot went down at this meeting. It was a big one (that's what she said.) Here's a breakdown:

1. One Act auditions are TOMORROW. That's TOMORROW, October 27th and October 28th from 6-10 in the PSYCH BASEMENT! There are five one acts to audition for, so plenty of fun parts to be had. If you are interested in teching for one acts, email Rena at renarena@bu.edu. One Acts perform December 4th, 5th, and 6th.

2. Because we did not receive any pitches for next semester's kid's show, we have extended the deadline to November 6th. We have also opened the parameters of the event; now the kid's show is a general charity show. This means that a charity show pitch would include several things.
A) a show you want to direct that can be done with basically no budget
B) a charity that you would give the proceeds to that is in some way connected to your show
C) a reason why your show should be chosen and why you chose that charity

So get those pitches in by November 6th to IT office in an envelope marked Attention: Eric Jacobsen. Download the kid's show pitch form from the website, but include an answer to 2C (above).

3. We also have miscellaneous news.
A) Kim will be "arrested" as part of Alpha Phi's "Jail and Bail" event, the sorority's annual philanthropic event. It will be held at Harper's Ferry in Allston at 9:00 on Tuesday, October 28th. Tickets to the event are $8. There will be free non alcoholic drinks, bands playing, and general merriment. Plus we get to free Kim, our beloved president, from "jail."
B) CFA School of Theater has offered Stage Troupe free tickets to their performance of Tennessee Williams' Glass Menagerie. The performance will be next Sunday, November 2nd at 2:00 pm in CFA. Email stage@bu.edu if you plan on attending in case they want a head count.
C) Keith Gildea needs actors, actresses, and possible PAs for his student film. Email kmgildea@bu.edu if you are interested in participating.
D) David needs people to participate on Busties' Nominating Committee. To be eligible, you have to have either seen all the shows OR seen all the special projects OR both. You have to be able to meet during the day for about an hour on December 7th. Email dsiewers@bu.edu if you are interested.

4. The season for next semester, in no particular order is:
*Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead,
directed by Carolyn Byrne and Will Wheeler
*Crimes of the Heart, directed by Adam Lebowitz-Lockard
*Hollywood Liquor, written and directed by Zach Drummer

Thank you to everyone who pitched!

5. The next general meeting is December 7th, at 7:00 pm in CAS 211.
We will be voting on BUSTIES.

General Meeting #2 Minutes!

General Meeting # 2

1. Congrats to the first combat of the year!
2. Pitches: Pitches for Fall 08 one acts and Spring Season 09 are due October 16th by 4 pm to the IT office. Put your application form (which you can download off the website under forms) and two copies of your script in an envelope labeled Attention: Eric Jacobsen.

We will be voting on the Spring season at the next general meeting October 26th 7:00pm in CAS211.

We will need people to volunteer for reading committee. Reading committee is assigned to read a pitched play and then bring to the general membership any concerns about the show. If you would like to be a part, email David Siewers at dsiewers@bu.edu.

3. Rena needs people to tech for one acts and combat. If you are interested contact her at renarena@bu.edu. One acts is a great way to try out new tech positions you are curious about, so do it!

4. Wandering on Stage will be this Saturday 8:00 pm in the student theater. Wandering on Stage is our annual combat that we do with On Broadway and Wandering Minds, but this year we are trying to get a few other awesome groups involved too. It is not something you want to miss! If you would like to be a Troupe writer, actor, or director email David at dsiewers@bu.edu

5. Next General Meeting is October 26th 7:00 pm in CAS211. Be there!

General Meeting Recap

Submissions for this semester's One Acts, the Summer Show, and next year's Parents Weekend show are due by Mar 6th to the IT office. Please include the appropriate submission form (found on the website) and two copies of the script, all in an envelope labeled Attn. Eric Jacobsen. Pitches for Fall mainstages are due Mar 21, same procedure. More information can be found on our website here: http://people.bu.edu/stage/members/proposals/index.html

Auditions for One Acts will be Mar 24-25. More information on these to come soon.

There is a Combat Theatre this Saturday night at 8pm in the Student Theater. If you're interested in acting, writing, or directing, please e-mail VPSP David (dsiewers@bu.edu) ASAP. We still need some more people so don't hesitate to be a part of this event of unmatchable fun. Otherwise, be sure to show up and watch!

Another thing the membership said they wanted to see this semester was readings of plays. So we've set up a Readers Theatre to happen on March 5th, the day before pitches are due. If you've got a show you'd like to hear read, possibly a potential mainstage for next season, e-mail David (dsiewers@bu.edu) about it and we'll see if we can get it in. If you want to be one of our readers/actors, also e-mail David.

This semester's Drama After College will focus on playwriting and will be held on Mar 27th. It will be taught by a local professional playwright.

Tech workshops are starting this week. You should have gotten an e-mail from Rena about them, but if not, e-mail her (renarena@bu.edu) for a list of topics and dates.

Sexual Perversity in Chicago is looking for an artist to draw them some sketches. One of the characters in the play is an artist and the directors want a bunch of sketches to both use as props and decorate with. E-mail Bryan Lowry (blowry86@bu.edu) or Andy Hoglund (hoglundan@gmail.com) if you're interested.

Another props person is needed for Anything Goes. If you're interested, e-mail Rena (renarena@bu.edu). Also e-mail her if you're interested in teching for any upcoming Special Projects.

Anything Goes is still looking for some more people to help serve dinner at the two dinner performances. It's a great way to see the show for free and be a part of this fantastic event. E-mail Emily Shumsky (eashumsky@gmail.com) or Vanessa Tanicien (vanessa.tanicien@gmail.com) if interested in helping out.

Tickets for the performances are now able to be reserved online through stage@bu.edu or by calling Kathleen at 518.810.5176. There will be 20 tickets available to Stage Troupe members for each dinner performance at a special price of $20, instead of $30. Those twenty will go first come first serve so act quickly.

1st General Meeting recap

Sunday night was our first general meeting of the semester. Here's what happened:

Auditions are only two nights this year, tonight and tomorrow, from 6-9:30pm in the basement of the Psychology building. No experience, resume, or headshot is required. Just have $5 to pay your membership dues and you're all set. If auditioning for Company, have 30-45 seconds of music prepared to sing without an accompanist. Please show up as early as possible to help us see everyone in one fewer night this time around.

Synopses and production heads are listed on our website. Further information on the audition process is there as well.

If you're interested in Tech, the Tech meeting will be on Friday at 6pm in The Space. Anyone who want to tech will get a position. No experience is required here either and dues will be collected there as well. More information about positions and the tech assignment process is available on the website.

We've got a plenitude of Special Projects planned for the semester as well. On February 2nd, we will be holding Rena's Birthday Bash, a variety show of sorts to raise money for the Kids Show, where all proceeds go to charity. The event will include a host, some sketches and other forms of entertainment, a cake off, a date auction, and a chance to pie a member of the e-board. We're looking for people interested in baking cakes to be judged and people who want to enteratin. E-mail us back here if either of those interest you.

Other projects include The Tech Show (which is still a secret), Combat, Drama After College: Playwriting, Readers Theatre, and One Acts. More information on all of these to come as the events draw closer.

BUSTies will be held on the 9th floor of Photonics on May 1st. It's our annual award ceremony where we celebrate the accomplishments of the past year. If you're interested in being on the planning committee for the event, e-mail VPSP David Siewers (dsiewers@bu.edu).

VP Chris Carcione has started sifting through the boxes of archives Stage Troupe has in an effort to make sense of the 58 years of history we have. If you're interested in helping with the archiving process, e-mail Chris (ccarcion@bu.edu).

We're also starting a development campaign to try and raise money for Troupe. We hope to compile a list of alumni to give to the University (another part of the archiving project) so that alums can give directly to the organization. But for this year we're also going to send letters to our families and friends. At auditions and the tech meeting, there you'll have a chance to put down your home address. If you don't want us to contact your family, leave it blank. If you have more people you'd like letters sent to, e-mail them to stage@bu.edu.

New Repertory Theatre in Watertown is looking for a Marketing/Public Realtions intern. Troupies have been really great in the position in the past and it's a great way to get experience in the professional theatre world. Contact VP Chris Carcione (ccarcion@bu.edu) if interested and he'll point you in the right direction.

The pitch deadline for the Parents Weekend show and Summer show will be March 6th. All materials are due to the IT office by 4pm in an envelope labeled "Attn. Eric Jacobsen." More information on pitching is available on the website.

Recent Troupe alum Tyler Reilly is acting in a production of Angels in America being produced by Boston Theatre Works at the Boston Center for the Arts. The show has two parts and runs through Feb 10. Information on performances is available online at bostontheatrescene.com

Look for callback, cast, and tech lists online during the week as we start this fantastic semester of Troupetasticness.
